The Decision of a Lifetime

To throw or not to throw?  That is the question.

Trapped by smoke, the German parents of a nine month old baby faced the dilemma of a lifetime: if they throw their child out the window, four stories above, would she be caught down below?

The split-second decision paid off.  The young baby named Onur, survived.  Her parents did too, although mom is still recovering in the hospital.  Other people in the flaming apartment building in Ludwigshafen, Germany, did not.  The blaze killed nine people, including five children.

So what would you do in that situation?

I don't have any children, just two rambunctious beagles named Bruin and Royce.  If I did have children, I really don't think I could do it.  As a parent, looking down four stories to concrete and pavement below, I don't think I could throw my own child out a window.  What if the baby was caught at a bad angle and broke legs, arms, even it's neck?  What it the baby wasn't caught at all?  Of course, on the other side of the issue, what if I didn't throw my child, and it died of smoke inhalation or burns?  That's something I'd have to live with for my entire life.

Both parents did live, and most likely would have been able to get Onur out safely, but hindsight is always 20/20, isn't it?

Those parents live by Faith and not by sight. God saw them through. God is good. Praise God!!

I would do anything I could to save my daughter. Yes i would throw her to that fire fighter, or a police man. I'd jump out with her in my arms if I thought it would give her a better chance at living.
