T-Pads Erupt to Eight Runs in the 6th, Beat Aces 10-3
RENO, Nev. Ryan Langerhans went 2-for-2 with two walks for the Aces Sunday evening, but Tucson erased an early deficit and plated eight runs in the sixth inning, holding on for a 10-3 win over Reno at Aces Ballpark.

RENO, Nev.—Ryan Langerhans went 2-for-2 with two walks for the Aces Sunday evening, but Tucson erased an early deficit and plated eight runs in the sixth inning, holding on for a 10-3 win over Reno at Aces Ballpark.
The Aces jumped ahead 3-0 after two innings, but could not hold the lead. In the first, Angel Berroa drove in two runs with a two-out double, scoring Cole Gillespie and Cody Ransom. Reno tacked on another run in the second, when Mark Hallberg doubled home Konrad Schmidt to give the Aces a 3-0 lead.
But Tucson uncorked eight runs on just five hits in the sixth inning, flipping a 3-0 deficit into an 8-3 lead. The Padres would tack on two more runs in the eighth and hang on for the victory.
Kevin Mulvey (4-9) was tagged with the loss for Reno, despite allowing just a single hit and no runs through the first five frames. Mulvey allowed seven runs—six earned—in the sixth frame, and completed just 5.1 innings, striking out four and walking three.
Rob Musgrave (3-2) earned the victory for the Padres, allowing three runs on six hits in seven innings of work. The Tucson starter allowed just one hit after the second inning, retiring 13 of the final 14 batters that he faced.
At the plate for Reno, Berroa finished with a double and two RBIs, while Hallberg recorded two hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games.
The Aces conclude the 2011 regular season with a 1:05 p.m. matinee against Tucson Monday afternoon. LHP Tom Layne (9-7, 6.22 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Tucsonwill counter with RHP Samuel Deduno (4-5, 3.94 ERA). Monday is Fan Appreciation Day, where 2,500 fans will receive a Wily Mo Peña bobblehead.
