SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Edwin Jackson pitched two innings of two-hit ball in his first start since being acquired in an offseason trade, but the Arizona Diamondbacks lost to a San Francisco Giants split squad 12-6 Saturday.
John Bowker's sparked the Giants' nine-run fifth inning with a three-run home run. Left-hander Jonathan Sanchez, who pitched a no-hitter against San Diego on July 10, 2009, pitched two shutout innings, giving up three hits and walking three.
Jackson signed a two-year, $13.5 million deal after the Diamondbacks acquired him in a three-way deal with the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. He struck out one.
Center fielder Chris Young homered and hit a two-run double among his three hits for Arizona.
