Warm, moist, Pacific air will push into the region over the next 24 hours. With very cold weather in the lower levels, this will cause snow initially, changing over to a wintry mix into the early morning hours of Thursday. By Thursday afternoon, as the milder air mixes down, precipitation will change over to rain for all areas below 7500'. This winter weather will bring slippery conditions to roadways overnight into the Thursday morning commute. For Friday through early next week, a series of milder systems will keep snow in the Sierra, mainly above 7000', with periods of wind and rain showers for the lower elevations. -Jeff
